When you start on the integrated math pathway, you are embarking on a journey of three years of math (Integrated I, II, III). Each Integrated Math course contains standards from all of the six conceptual categories (Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Modeling, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability) with the goal of these courses being that math is presented as a connected subject. So a little bit of everything every year rather than separate classes.
Mathematics has its own language, and the acquisition of specialized vocabulary and language patterns is crucial to a student’s understanding and appreciation of the subject. Students will be encouraged to correctly use the concepts, skills, symbols, and vocabulary identified in the California teaching standards (and common core standards).
The development of problem-solving skills is a major goal of our mathematics program at every grade level. Instruction in the process of problem-solving is integrated early and continuously into each student’s mathematics education here at SCLC. We strive to help our students to develop a wide range of skills and strategies for solving a variety of problem types.
Prerequisite: Prealgebra or Middle School Math, Course 3 or equivalent for Integrated I and then the series goes in order.
